It all started last Wednesday, around 7pm, with a phone call…

• Brian: Hello?
• Rachel: Hey Brian!  Are you free tonight?
• Brian: Um I think so.  What last minute thing do you want me to shoot this time?
• Rachel: Hahaha… well actually…

So about an hour later, I find myself hauling a lot of gear through a very dark and mostly empty warehouse, looking for a flimsy ladder which would eventually lead up to the roof (which is also pretty flimsy looking).  Good times.

Of course, in cases like these its usually a good thing that I’m never very far from my gear because I might have missed a chance to shoot one of the most fun events I’ve done in a while.  My friends of the Dare Devil Circus have been working on some promo material.  Tonight they were shooting some video and were kind enough to invite me to get in on the action.  I’m definitely glad they did because we got some great photos.  I do wish I had gotten a few more group shots but we had simply lost the light – either way I’m extremely happy with these images and I know the performers are as well.

As you’ll see, this session was focused primarily on the fire performance acts that the Dare Devil Circus offers, but it certainly doesn’t stop there.  They are quite the skilled troupe with extensive experience with go-go dancing, aerial acts, acrobatics, hula hooping (of the standard and flaming variety) and a few things that are best classified as “specialty acts” (super cool – trust me).
