Vaudezilla!

Grand Rapids is home to not one, but two home grown burlesque reviews.  The amazing Super Happy Funtime Burlesque recently celebrated it’s four year anniversary, and the newly minted Shimmy Shack Burlesque is just beginning to gain some real momentum.

I’ve been extremely fortunate to have made some amazing friends and found the opportunity to document more than a few of their live shows, and overall it’s been an amazing and eye opening experience.  The performers are extremely talented, hard working and dedicated individuals and if I had half the energy of any one of them I would be unstoppable =)

More recently, Shimmy Shack Burlesque has been inviting out of town guest stars, and a few weeks back I had the good fortune to get some studio time with members of Chicago’s own Vaudezilla Burlesque.  Red Hot Annie, Donna Touch, Maria May I, and Wham Bam Pam granted me a spot in their extremely busy schedule and we had an amazing time.  I haven’t had much studio time lately so I was really excited when we were able to make our calendars line up.  Check out my favorite shots from the day:

P.S. – Yes, Red Hot Annie is wearing a hot-dog hat.  With mustard.  Yes, it makes me grin every time I look at it also.  I’m extremely amused by the absurdity of it.
